Hi, all, A couple of things: First, I’d like to ask that we try to go easy on each other in the comments here. This is not a space for people who think that the “other side” is evil. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: there are bad actors on both sides of this thing, and there are a lot of decent people on both sides, too, who are either trying to fix things or simply getting caught in the crossfire. This is a difficult, sensitive, and endlessly complex subject. I won’t tolerate abusive, Islamophobic, or antisemitic language in the comments. I also won’t keep comments up that normalize rape. So please don’t post them.
I really appreciate your courage and hosting this action group and and your clear guidelines. I am grateful for all the work you do to help the rest of us in our activism.
You are wise and courageous, Jess. It’s complicated to be in the world at this time. I don’t envy you, among others, who have a platform and to whom readers turn for trusted information, perspective on complex subjects, and discernment on how to use our own voice.
Jess, thank you as always for all you do, and for reminding everyone about having compassion for our fellow humans. Name-calling and the other things you describe are not conducive to thoughtful discussion. I trust your recommendations because you understand the history and nuances. Keep up the great work! 💕
Thank you for this newsletter, Jess. How Congress can allow weapons continue to flow to Netanyahu's government, and not to Ukraine...compounds the tragedies in both parts of the world - a point I keep making in emails to my reps.
The greater irony in light of last week's movement on aid bills is that we will send the means to continue the genocide in Gaza and then offer humanitarian aid to those same Palestinians. If that isn't head spinning, I don't know what is. Netanyahu is a war criminal and must be replaced. He is willing to annihilate other human beings in order to delay being brought to account for his past and current actions.
Jess, I'm in total agreement with you on your "A couple of things" at the top of this newsletter. We all need to be respectful and considerate of each other. We might learn a thing or two in the process. This is a highly complex situation. None of us have a magic wand. Let's come together and try to be part of a solution.
I would like a real discussion on Islamist extremism. If we deny arms to Israel aren't we tying their arms behind their backs while extremists are free to send rockets, plan individual attacks, create chaos in the Suez Cansl and teach hate to the young. When are we going to demand that Iran and all their buddies cease firing, return hostages and create a pluralistic society where people of all religeons can live side by side in a productive society as Israel has. Can we happily live side by side with extremists while they kill woman who take off hijabs and throw political opponents off roofs harrass and kill LBGT people?
The reality is that powerful people and powerful governments do not follow international rules or even rules they agreed to. Chris Hedges says Biden will not hold back weapons from Israel in Gaza and the genocide will go on. I am joining the young people this Fall in solidarity against Biden.
Thanks for this. There is entirely too much hate and name calling in the world today. Our challenge is to find a better to handle conflicts.
Exactly.

Thank you, Janie. Doing my best with the info I have in front me, while constantly trying to get more info. (:
Thank you, Jess.

And about your love—received and returned.
Thank you, Jean!

Thank you for doing that. We need to keep hammering them.
Bad actors on "both sides" really?
EDIT: Sorry all, I misunderstood this thread to be referring to Democrats vs Republicans.
In fact Jess is referring to Netanyahu's right wing vs Hamas, having bad actors on both sides, which is obviously true.
God bless.
Yes. Again, if you can't (or won't) see that this is likely not the list for you.
Thanks for walking this fine and difficult line. It has to be done, this has to stop, we cannot support or supply the genocide.
Stay strong
Thanks, Anna.

Right! Thanks!
Thank you for you. Appreciate your insight and teaching.
Of course!
Jess, I really appreciated this post. Actually, I appreciate all of your work.
And I yours!
thanks for keeping on. This isn't easy, but it's necessary to keep finding the path. I appreciate your persistence - it helps me keep doing.
Thanks, Merrilee.

Thank you for taking a stand despite the pushback. You are demonstrating courage and commitment to democracy.
Does this mean the earlier post is gone? I was going to use some info from it to call congress about aid to Ukraine.
If so, no worries.
I read the last post before objectionable comments were made.
No I haven't taken anything down. But I don't believe I mentioned Ukraine on this list. I do that in the main newsletter.
